How does Contour TRL™ laser peel work?

Contour TRL™ safely removes a layer of the skin up to the depth determined by a doctor. The depth of the procedure will depend on the skin condition, desired effect and expected downtime.

What is the course of the procedure?

The skin areas to be treated will be cleansed, and eyes protected with special shields. The doctor will position the laser device over the skin and hold it at a certain place while the computer-controlled scanner will move laser beam over the treatment area. As Contour TRL™ treats the skin with micron precision, the doctor can perform the procedure using exactly the amount of energy that is necessary, which distinguishes Sciton laser from among other similar devices available on the market. Depending on the size of the treatment area, the procedure takes on average 15-30 minutes.
The comfort level during laser regeneration treatment varies from patient to patient and depends largely on the depth of the procedure. With procedures that are performed close to the skin surface, local anaesthetic cream is usually applied. With deeper procedures, the doctor may advise the use of subcutaneous, local anaesthetic or anaesthetic similar to that used by a dentist.

What are the indications for the treatment?

The procedure is recommended for deep wrinkles (even those in difficult areas such as around mouth and eyes), scars, sunspots, actinic keratosis, unaesthetic skin tone or structure. The treatment can be applied to a number of body areas with the most popular ones including the face and neck. Laser peels are often combined with traditional plastic surgeries for better effects. For that reason, you should discuss your needs with a doctor.

How many treatments are required to achieve the desired effect?

Contour TRL™ peeling laser can be used to perform a deep peel, so excellent effects can even be achieved after a single treatment. How long it takes until the skin is fully healed will mainly depend on the depth of the procedure. For procedures close to the skin surface, the healing time is usually 3-4 days. For deeper procedures, you should consult the necessary downtime with the doctor. Depending on how deep the laser works in the skin, it may take from several to a dozen or so days.
After this period, a pronounced improvement can be seen in the skin structure, tone and appearance of wrinkles. Deeper laser procedures also stimulate production of new collagen within 4-6 months during which the skin tightness and resilience clearly improve.

What skin aftercare will be needed?

Immediately after the procedure, redness and slight sunburn-like burning sensation may occur, and sometimes even swelling. The doctor will advise the use of specific means such as anaesthetics, skin moisturising creams and other skincare products. After the treatment, your skin will be sensitive to ultraviolet light, so you should avoid direct exposure to solar radiation until full healing. It is recommended to apply sunscreen all the time, to minimise the negative impact of solar radiation on the skin appearance.
