What is Ulthera?
Ulthera is one of the most effective ways to naturally improve the appearance of sagging skin. It is a safe method for face, neck and decollete lifting. Ulthera is an effective, non-invasive lifting procedure.
What does the treatment involve?
Unlike the long-used radio frequency technologies, Ulthera targets collagen fibres with more precision using ultra sound waves, delivering a lot of heat to stimulate skin tightening and toning. The precision of the treatment is ensured by imaging with DeepSEE technology, which allows the aesthetic medicine doctor performing the procedure to determine its depth. A special hand piece of the Ulthera device delivers concentrated ultrasound energy into the same skin layers where the surgical skin lifting is performed without disrupting skin continuity.
What happens during the procedure?
Ulthera uses ultrasound waves, which penetrate the outer skin layer without damaging the skin. When the waves reach the target tissue of the dermis, they are directed downward and provide a stimulating heat to collagen fibres resulting in their denaturation and contraction. The process of damaging is followed by a process of new collagen formation leaving the skin firmer and noticeably rejuvenated. The treatment takes approximately one hour on average.
What are the indications for the treatment?
Ulthera is suitable for relatively young people or those who are not yet ready for a surgical lifting. The best candidates are patients who just start to notice the formation of a “”sagging chin”” and blurred jawline. If you notice in yourself: drooping and sagging chin, blurred jawline, deep folds from the nose to mouth, drooping corners of the mouth, you should consider Ulthera lifting treatment.
Ulthera treatment is approved by the Food and Drug Agency and can be used with any type of skin.
What effects can be expected after the treatment?
Immediately after the treatment, as a result of collagen fibre contraction, an effect of a slight elevation of the facial contour structures is observed in some patients.
After 2-3 months from the procedure and when the process of collagen remodelling is completed, the skin becomes dense and firm, the facial contour is improved, zygomatic bones are more pronounced and the desired V-shape is formed.
Numerous patients confirmed that the treatment effects had lasted for many years. However, the effects are very subtle and not as radical as in the case of a surgical jaw or face lifting.
How many treatments are necessary to achieve the desired effect?
Ulthera treatment is performed once per 2-3 years. Effectiveness of the treatment and how long the effect lasts vary from individual to individual and depend on the patient’s skin condition and subcutaneous tissue.
What skin aftercare is needed?
The treatment does not require any downtime, so it will not lead to absence at work or important events. Slight redness may appear, but it will subside after around 2 hours.
