Revitalisation – Mona Lisa Touch™
What is vaginal laxity?
Vaginal laxity is a condition that affects in particular women after childbirths, especially multiple ones. Pregnancy and childbirths have an effect on the female body both externally and internally. Muscles become weaker, and the skin more stretched. This condition may also occur in menopause. Thus, in theory it affects women at all ages.
For many women, vaginal laxity is a serious problem during intimate contacts, usually leading to a decrease or complete loss of sexual satisfaction.
Methods for treating vaginal laxity?
Experts from HOLISTIC Clinic utilise innovative and at the same time non-invasive methods for laser vaginal revitalisation using Mona Lisa Touch laser. Fraction laser is used to tighten mucosa.
What does the vaginal revitalisation procedure involve and what are the treatment methods?
Until recently, the problem of a loose vagina was only solved through an operation. Today, tissue tightness can be improved by means of a laser treatment without undergoing an operation, without the risk of complications or a long recovery period.
Laser-based vagina tightening treatment increases the tightness of tissues. The vaginal mucosa becomes more resilient and tight as a result of increased production of collagen fibres. Mona Lisa Touch CO2 laser acts on the vaginal walls, and controlled energy delivered to the vaginal canal and vulval vestibule heats the tissue and the collagen in it.
What does the Mona Lisa Touch laser treatment involve?
The temperature causes the collagen in the tissue to shrink; collagen fibres become shorter and thicker leading to tightening and decrease of the treated vaginal mucosa. Apart from the tightening of the vaginal mucosa, processes of collagen remodelling and neocollagenesis start – the treated vaginal mucosa contains new collagen; it appears younger, tighter and resilient, which leads to reduced laxity and elimination of the consequences of a lax vagina.
What are the indications for Mona Lisa Touch treatment?
The treatment is recommended to patients suffering from reduced tightness and laxity of the vagina as a result of childbirths, childbirth-related injuries, congenital connective tissue changes, body weigh change, infections, chronic discharges, ageing and menopause.
Contraindication for the procedure include vaginal infections and anatomic changes of the vagina. The most common symptoms of vaginal laxity include dyspareunia, decrease in libido, problems with reaching orgasm, and vagina dryness and atrophy. During the first appointment, a thorough gynaecological history is gathered, gynaecological examination is conducted and appropriate tests (e.g. gynaecological examination) are ordered to exclude contraindication and possible anatomic changes that disqualify for the procedure.
What effects can be expected after the procedure?
The procedure increases vagina elasticity and prevents stress urinary incontinence. Patients enjoy better sensations during a sexual intercourse, their quality and comfort of life improves.
How many Mona Lisa Touch revitalisation treatments should be performed to achieve the desired effect?
The number of treatments depends on the severity of the condition and the patient’s age. For patients over 35, a series of 3 treatments is recommended spaced 4 weeks apart. For the problem of stress urinary incontinence
