What is ProFractional Therapy™?
ProFractional Therapy™ is a quick and comfortable laser procedure (fractional laser) with little downtime, used for improving the overall appearance of the skin. The procedure is performed in a doctor’s surgery and can be tailored to address specific skin conditions and achieve the desired effect. This method of laser therapy is widely used to tackle scars leading to a deep rebuilding of the connective tissue of the scar.
How does ProFractional Therapy™ work?
ProFractional Therapy™ utilises a laser beam to treat the skin by making micro “”holes”” in it. The surrounding healthy tissue accelerates healing. The wound healing response of the body creates new collagen, which adds firmness and resilience to the skin, thus creating a “”new””, healthy skin. In the case of scars, tissue rebuilding occurs and the scar becomes much less visible.
What effects can be expected after the treatment?
A fuller, more glowing skin with even texture and tone. The skin discolouration will be reduced, and the growth of new collagen will add volume to the skin helping to smooth out fine lines and wrinkles. The skin becomes regenerated and more healthy. The scars become more resilient and less noticeable, with the scar age having a significant impact on the final effect – the earlier the laser therapy is used, the better.
Which body areas can be treated?
Most body areas can be treated. Popular areas include the face and neck, but a lot of people chose treatment on the decollete, chest and hands. You should discuss your needs with a Holistic Clinic doctor.
How many treatments are required to achieve the desired effect?
Excellent results can be achieved even after one treatment, but the number of necessary treatments varies from patient to patient; in the case of scars, the number of treatments depends on an individual and is determined by the size of the scar, when it appeared and on the rebuilding after successive treatments. A Holistic Clinic doctor develops a treatment plan taking into account the patient’s requirements; they may also recommend a combination of ProFractional Therapy™ with another procedure of aesthetic medicine for achievement of desired effects. The whole procedure is usually divided into four to five treatments spaced four to six weeks apart. Effects of ProFractional Therapy™ are long-lasting or even permanent.
How is the procedure performed?
The skin area to be treated will be cleansed and your eyes will be protected with special shields. A laser device will be positioned gently on the skin. When the laser works, you will hear a rapid succession of sounds. The laser device will be moved to adjacent skin areas until the entire treatment area has been covered. The laser treatment alone takes 15 to 30 minutes on average. Before the treatment, the patient is locally anaesthetised, which takes around 40 minutes.
Will I feel any discomfort or pain?
ProFractional Therapy™ is regarded as a comfortable procedure, usually well-tolerated after the application of local aesthetic cream or local anaesthesia depending on the depth of the procedure. Additionally, cool air anaesthesia can be applied.
How long will it take to achieve the desired appearance of the skin?
The complete healing usually occurs after a few days, and most patients feel comfortable enough to return to work and apply make-up a few days after the procedure. Slight swelling may appear, but it will subside a few days after the procedure.
What aftercare will be need?
During the first 3-4 days after the procedure, you should follow skin care regimen based on post laser treatment suggestions from the doctor. After the treatment the skin will be sensitive to ultraviolet light, so you should avoid direct exposure to the sun until the complete healing of the skin. You should always use sunscreen to prevent a negative effect of solar radiation on the appearance of the skin.
When can I expect the effects?
Within a few days from the procedure, in the process of skin healing you will notice the effect of firmness. Then, within 2 to 4 months the collagen will rebuild.
