What is MicroLaserPeel™?
MicroLaserPeel™ removes a thin, upper layer of damaged skin (epidermis to be exact) to improve skin structure and give it a more youthful look. The treatment delivers excellent effects as the use of the innovative Sciton® technology allows it to be performed with high precision. The procedure is performed in a doctor’s surgery and can be tailored to the quality and needs of the skin and the desired effect.
What does MicroLaserPeel™ involve?
MicroLaserPeel™ laser beam is directed on the treatment area to remove a very thin skin layer (epidermis). Removal of the upper skin layer eliminates damaged cells that make the skin look tired. During the process of skin healing new cells are created covering the treatment area.
How is the treatment performed?
The treatment areas will be cleansed, and the eyes protected with special shields. The doctor will position the laser device over the skin and hold it at a certain place while the computer-controlled scanner will move laser beam over the treatment area. Depending on the size of the treatment area, the procedure takes on average 15-30 minutes.
One of the main benefits of MicroLaserPeel™ is painlessness. With a laser set to a more superficial depth, most people are able to endure the treatment without any aesthetic. With a laser set to a larger depth, a local aesthetic cream and/or cold air blowing is used.
What are the indications for the treatment?
The treatment is recommended in case of fine lines, scars, keratinization, pigmentation dysfunction – change as a result of solar radiation (e.g. discolouration, freckles). Most body areas can be treated. Popular areas include the face and neck, with some people also deciding to have the treatment performed on decollete, chest and arms. You should discuss your needs with the doctor. One of the disorders where we use MicroLaserPeel™ as a complement to a proper treatment is skin laxity. This method enables skin structure rebuilding and improvement of skin firmness and resilience.
What effects can be expected after the treatment?
The effect of the treatment is a healthier appearance of the skin, often also improved skin tone and reduction of wrinkles. Patients often describe this effect as change of a tired looking skin into a glowing one.
Immediately after the procedure, redness and slight sunburn-like burning sensation may occur, and sometimes even swelling. As only the outer skin layer is treated – so most patients notice a pronounced improvement of the tone, structure and colour uniformity after the skin heals within 3 or 4 days – the treatment is often called “”weekend peel””, and is usually performed at the end of the week.
How many treatments are required to achieve the desired effect?
Excellent results can be achieved even after one treatment, but the number of required treatments varies from patient to patient and depends on a specific indication. A doctor will develop an individual treatment plan tailored to your requirements. It is also recommended to have MicroLaserPeel™ together with another aesthetic medicine procedure for achievement of desired results.
What aftercare is needed?
At HOLISTIC Clinic, you will receive skincare products together with the instruction of application. After the treatment, your skin will be sensitive to ultraviolet light, so you should absolutely avoid direct exposure to solar radiation until full healing. It is recommended to apply sunscreen all the time to minimise the negative impact of solar radiation on the skin appearance.
