What is carboxytherapy?
Carboxytherapy is a minimally invasive procedure that promotes natural regeneration processes. During the procedure, carbon dioxide is introduced under your skin, which inhibits aging and improves your skin condition.
What does carboxytherapy look like?
During the procedure, carbon dioxide is introduced under your skin in a controlled way using a fine needle, and the gas is precisely pumped by a special apparatus. Carbon dioxide administered subcutaneously speeds up blood flow and stimulates the skin to produce new collagen. Carbon dioxide is also used in esthetic medicine to break down accumulated fat.
CO2 infusion increases blood flow as well as oxygen and nutrient supply to the treated area, and also it improves microcirculation and promotes cell regeneration. The skin response to CO2 injection is inflammation, which stimulated collagen production. A couple of months later, skin remodeling begins and collagen fibers shrink, increasing skin elasticity.
How does the procedure go?
Carbon dioxide is applied by a special apparatus, which provides precision and heats up the gas. Subcutaneous application is possible using a fine needle, so the patient may experience minor pain, burning or expanding sensation. The duration of the procedure depends on the treated area and ranges from a couple of minutes to a quarter. Anesthesia is not required.
What are the indications?
- so-called ‘eye bags’, bruises or wrinkles in that area
- local excess of fat tissue
- sagging skin and subcutaneous tissue after delivery
- age-related sagging skin
- skin revitalization (rejuvenation)
- supporting treatment to prevent balding
What can I expect afterwards?
Immediately after the procedure, the skin is red and gas distribution can be visible. The skin does not require additional care afterwards. After a series of sessions, the skin is remodeled, firmer, and the adipose tissue shrinks.
How many sessions are needed for the expected results?
A series should consist of 10 sessions at one-week intervals, then one session every month for a couple of months. Full effect shows after 6 to 8 weeks.
What care does my skin need afterwards?
Carboxytherapy is safe and minimally invasive, does not require special care afterwards, however, the injection site hygiene should be maintained. It is recommended not to use sauna or swimming pool for 2 days.
